Keep it simple:
A short and sweet domain is the way to go. Also, avoid adding extra words and characters such as hyphens. Your domain should be easy to remember.

Your company name:
We certainly don't frown upon using your company name as your domain name, after all that is what we did. However, if your company name isn't descriptive of what you do, or does not contain any keywords you are optimizing your site around, it is not going to help you to use your company name as your domain. For example, if your company name is "Jones Enterprises", chances are (unless of course you are a widely recognized brand) the majority of people will have no idea what you do using your name alone as a reference. In cases like this you may want to find out a way to include a keyword in your domain name.

Extensions:
the .com extension is generally the preferred extension for any new domain. Using a .com extension carries a message of legitimacy. That being said, using a .net extension is by no means a bad thing and it certainly won't harm you. All domains are indexed in the same fashion by the Search Engines. Our advice is to make the .com extension your first choice, if no suitable domain can be secured using the .com extension, try .net.

Domains and SEO:
Aside from using your company name, another great practice is to include one of your most widely used keywords in your domain name. As we stated above, using keywords in your domain help site recognition not only by potential clients, but by Search Engines as well.
